Mary 5 Months
Mary started eating solid foods! When we first gave her rice cereal she liked it but was very confused with how to eat the food. Since then we have given her oatmeal cereal, peas, and carrots. She always opens her mouth wide and makes loud noises to ask for more and is very good at swallowing. She is not very messy and sometimes doesn’t get anything on her bib. Other times she is very wiggly and distracted.
Mary is also very good at holding her head up and has started trying to crawl. She gets up in a push-up position and moves her feet around a lot but has yet to figure out how to move her hands. She can sit up but doesn’t do it very often or for very long. She prefers to lay down or try and crawl.
Aunt Beth and Grandma Satko sent us a huge box of clothes in bigger sizes which was great because we had a lot of 3 month size but not very many bigger ones. We also got Mary her a giraffe halloween costume from Costco and she loves it. I am excited for Halloween.

Mary 4 Months
I have been behind in posting about Mary. At 4 months she just started to grab toys and is getting better and better. She loves lying on her activity mat and trying to grab the toys I hang from it. She can also roll over! It was so cool to see her be able to reach things she wants and she is learning to make more decisions for herself. Now she can grab the toy she wants instead of playing with whatever I give her.
Brian and I went on a Cruise over the 4th of July holiday and Mary had a great time with Grandma and Grandpa Olson. She got used to drinking formula and using a bottle which before she would take occasionally but would not like it. They took her to our ward breakfast and she held onto a small flag the whole time. She also went to a fireworks show and loved seeing the bright lights. We got her a nice blue dress in Mexico with pretty embroidery.
We had a great trip to Washington. It was nice to see everyone for a little while. This was Mary’s first airplane ride and she did very well. She mostly played around, ate once, and took a short nap. There was a very nice lady sitting next to us who kept her entertained. Mary definitely liked being around the other Satko babies. It was a whole different experience for her because the only kids she sees often are elementary school age. Blake definitely likes his space. Whenever Mary would get close he would push her away. They had a nice long distance relationship. Mary had fun rolling around on the floor with the other babies and sharing her toys.
Mary finally got a little lamb. She loves to sleep with her teddy bear and lamb. They comfort her. We also put her in the dryer and she had a great time. Don’t worry, we didn’t shut the door.
We went to Seaworld San Diego with Brian’s cousin Eric and his wife Desi who were about to move to Arizona for medical school. Mary loved to look at all the fish in the aquariums and the shows were pretty great too. We even got to sit in an ice cave. The day was pretty hot so we got Mary’s blanket soaking wet and she loved to play with the wet blanket and it worked well to cool her down.
Mary loves her baths and even more loves being wrapped up in a towel after her bath. I love to see her smile and laugh when I rub her all over with the towel.

Mary 3 Months
The first time we noticed her holding onto something was at the Olson family reunion where she had a great time. We visited the St. George temple, Zion's, and an aquatic center. She also had a lot of fun at Lake Powell though she slept most of the time.
Mary loves to get her diaper and clothes changed. Her changing pad is such a fun place to be even afterwards.

Mary 2 Months
Mary loves her swing so much. She gets fussy when she is tired during the day and we can put her in her swing and she goes right to sleep. At night she has been sleeping for 6 or 7 hours at a time and then goes back to sleep right after a feeding. She is just such a good baby. We love her so much. I finally made a baby wrap out of some pink tablecloth (crash weave) fabric Brian’s mom had. She fell right to sleep. Mary liked it a lot better than the other carrier we have. She doesn’t really like that thing very much so we hardly ever use it.
Mary is getting so good at holding her head up and she enjoys sitting in the highchair looking at people sitting at the table because she is at the same height as everyone else. She does NOT like her car seat. She usually cries when we strap her in but sometimes calms down a bit or maybe if we are lucky falls asleep when driving. Usually she just cries but she does better if we cover the whole thing with a blanket and after we hung a rattle from the handle she enjoys looking at that too. She likes it when we hold her arms and have her stand up. She gets so happy. We just love her so much and enjoy watching her grow and experience new things.
